Well we leave for the windy city of Chicago tomorrow night! I’m pretty excited as I’ve never been there before. I get to tag along with Krissy since she has a conference up there (SIOP – Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology) and her work is paying for it! We get to stay in this posh hotel and I’ll get to visit Dan (sax/vocals of Brownie Points) since he is still up there going to school at Northwestern U. for his master’s. Should be a rockin’ good time.

I’ve been working the late shift doing the uninteresting job of feeding a tape deck tapes to redigitize all of the footage for the entire documentary at high resolution. monotonous to say the least. Don’t have to go into work until 2PM, but have to stay there until 10PM. blah.

enhanced vinyl?

Who knew that there was “enhanced content” on vinyl records back in the 80s? Pretty ingenious though. You see, games and programs used to be on cassette tape way back in the day, before DVD, before CD, even before floppy disk(!). So you’d plug in your cassette recorder to your record player and record the “signal” to a cassette and then play it back on the computer tape player. This site has a collection of info on who did this and what kinds of things they put on the records. Quite fascniating.

the realization of my past work

this is the culmination of a project I did in college where I created software that allowed you to basically “scratch” a digital audio file just as if it were a vinyl record. pretty cool to see Panasonic taking it to the next level and putting it onto a 1200 style deck. would love to play with this thing…
