scariest thing I read tonight

“The soldiers today are so used to handling the Playstation controller,” says one former military official, “it makes perfect sense that they’d use it to control army tanks and shoot missiles.”

According to military engineers, the Playstation controllers offer more pinpoint accuracy than their current set of controllers, which were mainly developed during the 1970s.

absolutely incredible… we might as well just blow ourselves up right now.

quotes of the day

* “you made my lifetime”
* “rub those titties on me”
* “flaming mad pissed”
* “you give great hugs! I want another one!”

long day. two shows. first in miami. second in ft. lauderdale. just got home. tired as hell. will try to post more later. just had to get those quotes down now while I could still remember them.

so i saw it finally

Kill Bill. I watched the first movie on DVD borrowed from Josh yesterday morning, and then went after the show with Josh and Jerry and Amber to see part 2. I am pretty impressed with the two films put together. On their own, the first film is better, but as a whole of both parts it works well. Unfortunately for Tarantino, I think the film would have been a more cohesive film if it was edited as one rather than split. There are scenes in the 2nd film especially that could be omitted with no detraction from the story (*cough* strip club scene *cough*) and there are long sequences from both films that could have been trimmed enough to make the movie a lean 3 hr. 10 min. film. If Titanic can do it and make mad cash, then Tarantino should have been offered the same discretion.

The best scenes from both films are:
The House of The Blue leaves fight sequences between The Bride and the Crazy 88.

The fight with Go-Go. Hottie!

The fight with O-Ren Ishii

The training of The Bride by Pai-Mei

and the fight with Elle Driver

There were also some other great moments, the buried alive sequence, the superman talk, and the entire anime sequence from part 1 describing O-Ren’s parents massacre.

I think if I could take both parts and edit them together as one it would be a much leaner film. But I’ll have to wait until Kill Bill Vol.2 comes out on DVD to do that. :)

awesome

This reminds me of my days in college – I did some work with granular synthesis and time shifting of sound and this is just a wonderful application of using computer tools to do things with music that are unique.

9 beet stretch – Beethoven’s 9th Symphony stretched to 24 hours total running time.

You have to hear it.

Cirque du Soleil

Pretty cool show, “La Nouba”.

I was most impressed by the 4 young girls with the diabolos.

And the guys with the wheels.

Ever have a song stuck in your head that you can’t remember the name of. Just go this site, plug in a microphone to your computer, and whistle it. It will give you the closest results to what you whistled.

It actually works. On pop, rock, even classical. Pretty intense.

whew…

I can finally be done with the documentary for a while… Lots of work. Watching Kill Bill on Dvd tonight for the first time tonight. Josh is buying it and I missed it in theaters so it should be cool to see. Going to La Nouba tomorrow with the wife. It should be a good evening! And then playing at the Social on saturday afternoon as part of the Florida Music Festival. Hopefully there will be some VIP’s in the audience. We shall see!

EDIT: didn’t get to see Kill Bill tonight after all – will have to wait until later this week…
