The Great Move

I’ve now completed the arduous task of migrating all of my old blogs into a single, new, and sexy WordPress blog . I had posts all the way back to December 2003, using both “Old” Blogger, and LiveJournal. This involved backing up my LiveJournal, and exporting to XML, and then using the WordPress importer. Then for Blogger, I had to temporarily switch my hosting to blogspot instead of my ftp, and then use WordPress’s importer for Blogger. With all of those posts and comments finally in one place, I was then able to work on styling things up, and putting together a new look for the site. So other than going back and giving some of my old posts proper titles, and doing a little tagging, I should be all set. If anyone sees anything awry, let me know. For anyone else that may have to accomplish the same task, I couldn’t have done it without:

Now time to finish packing for my vacation to San Francisco - Krissy’s already there, ready to make her presentation tomorrow at the SIOP Conference. After her sessions are over, our trip will take us around the city, to a night excursion to Alcatraz, a tour to Muir Woods, and then we’ll be renting a convertible to drive down the Pacific Coast Highway down to Los Angeles. It should be a fantastic time.

    I’m going to MAX!
This will be the first time I’ve attended a professional conference, and I’m very excited to meet some of my peers in the Flash community and get all I can from the seminars. Really cool stuff like Next Gen ActionScript, Art of Encoding Video, and Advanced CSS. I can’t wait. The Flash 8 authoring software in Studio 8 is awesome and it’s going to be really cool to see what other people are doing with it.

  • this is why all drugs are inherently bad for you

    http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2004/05/14/BUGKK6L0LB1.DTL

“In an agreement announced by government prosecutors Thursday, Pfizer unit Warner-Lambert admitted that it aggressively marketed the epilepsy drug by illicit means for unrelated conditions including bipolar disorder, pain, migraine headaches, and drug and alcohol withdrawal.

Prosecutors said Warner-Lambert turned Neurontin into a blockbuster drug with tactics like paying doctors to listen to pitches for unapproved uses and treating them to luxury trips to Hawaii, Florida or the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta. One doctor received almost $308,000 to tout Neurontin at conferences.”

What is the world coming to when we can’t trust our doctors at all? By the time most of us (us being people around my age) are old enough to collect Social Security there most likely won’t be such a thing, and all the money that gets taken out of our paychecks for it just gets absorbed by the U.S. government.

    Viva la revolucion!

  • day 3

Well our time in Chicago is almost over. We’re packing up getting ready to check out. Going to a corner bakery to get some bagels and then we’re going to spend the day at the aquarium. Our flight leaves around 6. It’s been a nice relaxing weekend for me and Krissy really enjoyed the conference. Our room here was wonderful! Should be for the almost $250 a night price! Thankfully Universal picks up the tab on that! I also heard good news from Josh of Unsung Zeros that we will probably be getting some financial support to get the new EP out to you and more! We shall see how that pans out…

Well we leave for the windy city of Chicago tomorrow night! I’m pretty excited as I’ve never been there before. I get to tag along with Krissy since she has a conference up there (SIOP - Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology) and her work is paying for it! We get to stay in this posh hotel and I’ll get to visit Dan (sax/vocals of Brownie Points) since he is still up there going to school at Northwestern U. for his master’s. Should be a rockin’ good time.

I’ve been working the late shift doing the uninteresting job of feeding a tape deck tapes to redigitize all of the footage for the entire documentary at high resolution. monotonous to say the least. Don’t have to go into work until 2PM, but have to stay there until 10PM. blah.
